BETA EXPECTATIONS

Testing the beta

If you’re one of our beta testers, thank you. Here’s what we’re asking, and what to expect.

What we’re asking

Use it on real work. Run it as much as you want — there’s no limit on how many documents you run, or how often, and we genuinely want it pushed to its edges. Tell us what you find, good and bad.

Read the cleaned document yourself before you use or share it. You’re the last check, not ClearHarbor.

On a work computer? Check with your IT department first — this handles patient documents. If they say no, stop rather than work around them, and let us know.

Never email us a real patient document. If you want to send us an example, send the cleaned version — never the original.

What it can handle in one go

Per document: 10 MB for any file, and for PDFs, 50 pages and 25 scanned pages needing text recognition in one run — that last one only bites when the PDF actually needs recognition. Over any of those, the run stops with an error message instead of cleaning the document. Split the file and try again.

Your feedback changes the product

What you tell us changes what ClearHarbor detects and how it behaves — that’s the point of a beta. It also means the build in front of you is not the finished product, which is worth holding in mind when you decide how much to lean on it. Check its work every time.

Sending feedback

Click the Feedback pill at the bottom of any screen. It walks you through four short questions:

  • Something's wrong with what it cleaned
  • It said this was safe to share, and I don't agree
  • It crashed, froze, or wouldn't work
  • I just want to say something

Pick one, answer a short follow-up — there’s a Back button if you change your mind — then write a note if you want, up to 280 characters. The whole thing takes under a minute.

A few things worth knowing

  • The form can’t take a document — describe what happened instead.
  • Your note gets cleaned automatically before it’s sent, and you’ll see exactly what that looks like first. Pasting more than 120 characters at once isn’t allowed, to keep stray patient data out.
  • A What’s sent? button tells you exactly what leaves your machine, if you want to check before you submit.
  • The unedited version of your note stays on your own computer for 30 days (or your last 50 reports) — nowhere else. My reports in the app lists everything you’ve sent, and lets you open the folder in Explorer to delete it at any time.

We read every note, even the ones we don’t reply to individually.

Or just email us

Anything the form can’t take — or anything that comes up after your 30 days end — goes to feedback@clearharbor.io.

Updates

You don’t need to do anything to stay current. ClearHarbor checks for updates when it starts and every couple of hours while it’s running, and downloads anything new quietly in the background.

When one’s ready you’ll see an Update ready panel with the version and what changed, plus a Restart and update button — along with a Windows notification and an entry in the tray menu. Not ready to restart? It installs itself the next time you quit. You can also check any time with Check for updates in Settings.

Your 30 days

The 30-day limit is a beta thing — the finished product won’t work this way.

You get up to 30 days, starting the first time you open ClearHarbor — which, since ClearHarbor launches itself right after install, is effectively the day you install it. You’ll get about 10 days’ warning before it ends, and the app always shows your exact date.

The clock belongs to your computer rather than to any one build. Reinstalling the same build doesn’t reset it, and neither does moving up to a newer one — we know someone will try it, so we’d rather tell you now than have you find out by surprise.

A build also stops working 90 days after we made it, whichever comes first. So if we hand you an older build, you’ll have less than the full 30 days — same reason we’d rather say it here than have it arrive as a surprise. Whichever applies to you, the date in the app is the one that counts.

When your time is up, cleaning switches off, but the app still opens. Nothing gets deleted, and nothing already on your computer is touched. This isn’t anything you did — we’ll get you a fresh build.
